A man's beliefs play a vital role in determining the whole course of his life. Its the beliefs that may take a man to heights of success or darkness of being narrow minded and a narrow minded person never succeeds in life even by his own standards.
But what if you are not the one determining your own beliefs?? What if someone else is shaping up your beliefs?? And the worst part, you are unaware of this fact too!! Let the things get a bit more worse. The beliefs talked about here are religious beliefs.
This may seem surprising to hear but we are a victim of this problem. Our beliefs are being shaped by some others. Some others which we don't even know! The main source of all this is internet and social media. Different Islamic pages on Facebook are spreading a lot of false or atleast unverified information which we seem to take for granted without trying to verify.
Leaving aside the reason that whether the person behind all this is an anti-Islamic agent or one of us with a hunger of likes, the affects are equally devastating. Besides the unauthentic information posted, the infinite amount of 'Masha Allah' comments inflict a lot of pain. People simply don't bother to verify or even think otherwise.
Ask an internet user. He will tell you he has seen it all from the graves and shrines of multiple prophets to the household items of Prophet P.B.U.H. Ask about authenticity and he will tell you that he has seen on internet so its true. Ah the sympathy!
God has given us the ability to choose between right and wrong and we don't bother to use it in the most sensitive issue. Ironically these pictures and contents get a lot of shares because it will appear on your timeline and leave a nice impression on others. After all proving to the world, how pious you are is really important.
Coming to the solution, we can simply avoid the things which we are not sure about. NOT EVERY THING ON THE INTERNET IS TRUE! Spreading an information without being sure about it is a moral crime anyways. If we start avoiding such controversies, certainly it will stop people from shaping our beliefs and help us develop the right beliefs.
May Allah help us seek guidance from His prescribed ways and follow the right path. (Ameen)
